The Funnel Cakes posted by Sugarmamabakingco’s Blog might be the most dangerous recipe on the internet right now. Not only is the deep frying kinda scary, but the notion of unlimited (by money, by public shame, by whatever) funnel cakes is swoon inducingly terrifying. As soon as I get over the trauma of shallow frying calamari (using the deep fryer next time for sure), these are on my to try list.

I have been staring at these Blueberry Streusel Bars w/ Lemon Cream Filling for some time now. First on use real butter and then recently I was reminded of my intention to make them by Recipe Girl. Creamy, tart with lemon, plump with blueberries and with a crumble topping–does it get any better? MUST make these before the summer ends and all I want is cinnamon apple desserts.

Trying not to be all dessert here, but seriously, people, Lemon Mascarpone Blondies? Does it get any better? These bars from Eats Well With Others (adapted from Simply Recipes) may have been made by the time this is posted.

If I had eaten more (any!) fish the last 20 years that looked like this Pan-Seared Mahi Mahi with Sambal Sauce from Tastes Like Home maybe I wouldn’t just now be discovering seafood. Seriously, I drool every time I look at these photos.

This recipe for Vinegared & Grilled Potatoes is a slightly older one, which I found while browsing. Invented in a totally unique and creative fashion by the mother of A Stove With A House Around It (which is by the way one of the best blog names EVER), I don’t know how it got by me when originally posted. I love potatoes, I love vinegar, I love grilled (or roasted, as I might try since I am grill phobic) potatoes; this recipe is totally intriguing.

It all sounds good especially as I'm starving right now.

You're so right that is a very cool name.

Btw, I DONOT turn on my grill either. I don't mind standing out there and keeping an eye on things but that baby is ALL his! 🙂

Thanks so much for the shout-out Laura! In response to your question on my blog about the blondies, they were not messy at all. In fact I have never made cheesecake bars so I didn't even know that they could be messy but thanks for the heads up! You'll have to let me know how you liked them.

Hi! I’m Laura and I am a recovering history major who has re-channeled all of my passion for learning about the history of different countries to learning about their food culture. That doesn’t mean every dish on here is strictly authentic, but it does mean that even my adaptations are not undertaken lightly. My goal is to show you–by doing–that these dishes are possible in your kitchen. Including desserts because I have quite the sweet tooth! Read More…
