We interrupt this blog…

This is Laura’s husband, and I’ve been asked to alert you (the readers of this blog) that due to a set of highly unusual and somewhat annoying circumstances there will be no postings by Laura (the blogger) for the next week.

Laura was 90% prepared to post a new, tasty entry (and I can personally vouch for the “tasty” part of that) when the Internet blew up. Or, to be more specific, a bolt of lightning hit our house and blew up the DSL modem (strangely leaving all other devises untouched). Literally. Boom. No more Internet.
On the bright side (for us, the blogger and her family), Frontier immediately shipped us a new modem. On the down side (for you, the reader), it won’t reach us (the blogger and her family) before we leave for a week at the beach. So while the plan was to have several auto-posts occur over the next week while we were swimming and relaxing, now only the swimming and relaxing part is going to happen.
We will be back on Aug. 17th, at which point we fully expect Laura to be able to resume her regularly scheduled blogging.

well this made me smile although not because of the incident that took her internet away – but because this sounds so much like a tv program interrupted. lol. Sorry to hear about the mysterious striking (happens here too though). Glad to hear things will be back in working order soon though!

Oddly enough, we had something similar happen last week – bolt of lightning hit neighbor's porch and somehow fried Brett's computer's media card – while everything else seemed fine… Have fun at the beach!

I almost dreaded clicking on the link to see what awful news had happened – this is indeed awful, but of the 'all will be well soon!' kind. Whew!

Sorry to hear about that bolt of lightning. May I recommend that you now purchase a lottery ticket? 8-D

Have a wonderful vacation and looking forward to seeing Laura back in blog action later!

The exact same thing happened to us. Huge storm, lots of lightening, fried modem, fried router, fried motherboard. It was the most expensive storm we have ever had (lucky for us). So my computer is also broken and waiting for parts.
    Have a blast on vacation!

Hi! I’m Laura and I am a recovering history major who has re-channeled all of my passion for learning about the history of different countries to learning about their food culture. That doesn’t mean every dish on here is strictly authentic, but it does mean that even my adaptations are not undertaken lightly. My goal is to show you–by doing–that these dishes are possible in your kitchen. Including desserts because I have quite the sweet tooth! Read More…
