"The Essentials"

This picture pretty much sums it up. I have packed away the rest of my cookbooks, divided into “pack away until the fall” and “do not open but leave accessible”–because after all 3-4 months is a long time, I might need that cookbook devoted entirely to potatoes!

Actually I wished I had that cookbook just last night when I was trying to decide how to use up my baby redskins before we move. And you thought I never used my cookbooks! (Or you are just like me and you know I do).

Anyway, this is what is left, the essentials–although I have a few more squirreled away, either in the kitchen being used or by the computer being typed from, that are not pictured here. Here’s to hoping I find space for them in the holdover house and that packing everything else was as easy as packing the “less used” cookbooks.

Haha.

More recipes coming soon….

When we moved I packed up ALL the books and thanked the heavens for food blogs 😉

Looks like a good selection! I appreciate being able to click on the picture so I can actually read the titles!

that girl: For a regular move I would too but since this is right down the street AND since we need to move again in 3-4 months, I felt it might be worthwhile to separate out what I cannot live without. And oh yeah I DO have a problem. 🙂

Joe: I realized afterward that you could sum me up very easily: I must have some Indian, SE Asian, Mexican and baking books. Everything else got packed. 🙂

Oooh, I’d have a hard time parting with any of my cookbooks for a few months. You never know when you’re going to need one! Good job culling them!

Hi! I’m Laura and I am a recovering history major who has re-channeled all of my passion for learning about the history of different countries to learning about their food culture. That doesn’t mean every dish on here is strictly authentic, but it does mean that even my adaptations are not undertaken lightly. My goal is to show you–by doing–that these dishes are possible in your kitchen. Including desserts because I have quite the sweet tooth! Read More…
